Things to Do in Austin, Texas Without Spending Anything

There’s a saying that goes “Everything’s bigger in Texas.” If you are a tourist who is planning your next trip, you might want to consider spending your vacation in the second largest state in the United States. With extensive list of activities that one can do in Texas, then it would never be difficult to experience “bigger” things in this state.

One of the important places to visit in Texas is Austin, its state capital. In Austin, it’s a must to visit the Texas State Capitol, situated in 11th Street. The Capitol was more than a century old structure which was completed in 1888. The House Chamber and the Legislative Chambers are some of the rooms you need to see. The original flag used for the Battle of San Jacinto is also only on display at the Capitol. The walking tour at the place is free except for Thanksgiving, Easter, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day.

For nature lovers, hikers, and campers, Austin also offers Mount Bonnell, the highest park in the City and consider as the most historic. Located in Austin’s northwest side in Austin Highland Park neighborhood, the place is open for public free of charge from 5AM to 10 PM everyday.

Lastly, there’s also the Zilker Botanical Garden, a 22-acre park located near Barton Spring Road. In this garden one will find different gardens such as herb & fragrance, rose, azalea, prehistoric, butterfly, xeriscape, Taniguchi, and more. The admission to the Garden is also free and it is open everyday.
